LIGHT FLY, FLY HIGH IN COMPETITION AT IDFA

"Light Fly, Fly High" tells the striking story of a courageous girl trying to change her life in a society where opportunities are not given based on who you are, but where you come from. Thulasi is a young Indian girl, who is literally willing to fight for the right to be herself. Her family wants her to get married, her chances of getting a decent job are slim and being an 'untouchable', born outside caste, she's expected to accept her position at the very bottom of the social ladder.

Light Fly, Fly High is selected for the First Appearance Competition and is one of only three film selected for the Oxfam Global Justice Award. With the Oxfam Global Justice Award Oxfam Novib is drawing the attention to issues it believes are of global concern, such as economic and social sustainability, fair trade, self-reliance, climate change and poverty reduction. The award recognizes the efforts of filmmakers telling stories about people who really make a difference.

Light Fly, Fly High is directed and produced by Susann Østigaard and Beathe Hofseth from Fri Film in Norway - and co-produced by Helle Faber, made in copenhagen.
